“Many hands make light work” – John Heywood

Volunteers are often the back-bone to many community sporting groups. The Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club operates largely through volunteers from generous community-minded members. There are a number of opportunities in which you can get involved.

Volunteer lifesavers are essential for ensuring public safety at beaches, providing critical rescue and first aid services while educating the community on water safety.

Their efforts help prevent accidents and save lives, all while reducing the financial burden on local resources.

Volunteer lifesaving patrols run from September to May each year and are one of the most rewarding experiences for those wanting to give back to the community.

To become a volunteer lifesaver, you must complete your Bronze Medallion. This course is made up of surf and pool swims, full first aid and CPR, rescue radio operation and standard surf rescue skills.

Once qualified, you will be assigned a patrol group and placed into our club patrol roster.
